Pass Information

This Pass is issued to any foreigner who is a crew member of a ship or vessel having arrived in the united republic of Tanzania  by sea or lake in the course of continuous and uninterrupted journey through the united republic of Tanzania , and desires to disembark from the ship or vessel to go ashore for the purpose of sight-seeing or any other sufficient reason  for the period such ship or vessel will be in the port.

Other than Residence Permits, a foreigner intending to enter and remain in the United Republic of Tanzania may be provided with an Entry Pass subject to the conditions provided within the Tanzania Immigration Law/Regulations. There are several types of Passes as described under Pass Guidelines. The maximum validity for all types of passes shall not exceed two years.

GENERAL REQUIREMENT FOR PASSES

  • Copy of valid passport
  • Covering letter from respective Institution
  • Previous copy of Pass (for renewal)
  • Relevant fee depending on the type of Pass

This pass may be issued to a foreigner for the purpose of passing through the United Republic of Tanzania to a destination outside the United Republic. Validity of the In-transit Pass shall not exceed seven days.

This is a Pass issued to a foreigner who resides in the United Republic of Tanzania to allow such a person to re-enter after a journey to any place outside the United Republic of Tanzania, and it is issued for such period not exceeding the validity of the permit, pass or any other valid immigration issued to such foreigner.

Re-entry Pass may also be endorsed into a passport whose holder enjoys an exceptional dual nationality status (below 18 years) as provided by the Tanzanian Citizenship Law.

This Pass s issued to a foreigner in order to afford him an opportunity of making an inquiry for the purpose of determining whether such person is entitled to a residence permit or is otherwise entitled to remain in the United Republic under the Act or Regulations or in order to afford him a reasonable opportunity of applying for and obtaining a residence permit or a pass other than an Interim Pass
